The Bond theme played on carillon in Copenhagen!

On Tuesday October 20th around 7 pm, the citizens in the Christianshavn area of Copenhagen were startled by a shining logo in the skies, accompanied by a familiar tune chiming from the clocktower of Our Saviour's Church:

This unusual rendition of Monty Norman's "James Bond Theme" was, of course, a rather magnificent PR stunt thought out by the advertising company Posterscope Denmark in collaboration with 20th Century Fox, who are distributing "SPECTRE" in Denmark.

According to Danish national broadcaster dr.dk, the church readily made its carillon available for free, although the glockenspiel player, Joanna J. Stroz, who performed the Bond theme was paid by Fox.

Joanna J. Stroz writes on Facebook:

"The Our Saviour´s Church Carillon with 43 bells was the biggest concert carillon in Scandinavia. It was cast by the danish bell founder De Smithske in Aalborg and installed in 1928-33 in the upper part of the tower and later recast and enlarged to 48 bells, 4 octaves with the lowest C bell by Petit&Fritsen, Holland. Our Saviours Church carillon chimes automatically every hour. The melody changes according to the season and the liturgical calendar. Once a week, as well during Christmas, Carillon Festival and other special occasions live recitals take place."

While the carillon played the James Bond theme, the SPECTRE logo was projected into the night skies. (PR photo)
